“Hey, That’s What I Said.”

It seems since the beginning of our school “life”, our teachers always instructed for us not to take credit for something someone else did. In elementary school, we weren’t exactly too much of a problem in that area; however, as we climb the educational ladder into the “real” world of career ladder climbing, particularly in Public Relations, plagiarism is a real threat.

If I were ever in the position where something of mine or my company was taken as someone else’s work, I would first try to contact them and notify that credit needs to be given. If that doesn’t work, I would then try to contact the immediate website’s administrator to resolve the problem.

Just make sure that you don’t take credit for anyone’s work without either citing it or giving full credit, sometimes, even if you merely get inspiration from that source. I personally would like to discover more tips on how to handle a situation like this if it ever arose.

What do you think?
